ROUNDUP: The National Equine Show, 2-3 March 2024

nes 2024 roundup from Owens Horseboxes

We’re just about unpacked and back to normality here at Owens HQ after a fantastic weekend over 2-3 March exhibiting at the National Equine Show 2024, which was held at the NEC in Birmingham. Shows are always incredibly hard work to organise, set up and run but of course we secretly love it – it’s a great opportunity to meet so many people all in the name of the love of horses. And, of course, to demonstrate our beautiful bespoke built horseboxes.

Following the immediate success of the National Equine Show’s launch event back in 2023, this year the show promised to be bigger and better than ever. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

We were lucky to have an incredible spot right in front of the main entrance, so there was absolutely no chance of missing us. We had a huge footfall on the stand on both days (easily into the thousands!) and plenty of new interest in our horseboxes. So much so that we completely ran out of brochures… oops! (Note to self – order a LOT more next year!). Predictably the shopping hall was packed both days with eagle-eyed shoppers keen to hunt down a bargain and judging by the armfuls of shopping bags, buckets and treat balls – most seemed to be successful. Not much time for shopping for Team Owens though, we barely had time to stop at all as our stand was so busy! We’re sorry if you had to wait to speak to us, at one point a small crowd was gathering all listening in on the same conversation so perhaps next year we’ll just get a megaphone… Only (sort of) kidding, but we definitely will try to have more staff on hand for you next time. As ever it was lovely to catch up with lots of Owens customers and to hear such positive feedback. It really does make our job worthwhile when we hear how much you all love your bespoke built horseboxes, and all the personalised finishing touches. But best of all, we love to hear how much your horses love their new wheels, too!

Our Duo Weekender XL demonstrator model was a huge hit, and to be honest it’s not difficult to see why. Our most popular model by far, this 2-stalled rear facing 4.5t horsebox boasts a 1600kg payload including full luxury weekend living for two. Honestly, the living area needs to be seen to be believed. So many visitors could not believe their eyes when they looked inside, and all agreed you really can’t appreciate the quality craftsmanship from a picture alone (which is exactly the reason why we love doing these shows!). With its hand finished cabinets, spacious bathroom, seating converting to a double bed, fridge, TV, microwave, hob and sink the Duo Weekender XL has absolutely everything you could need, and probably more. Our demonstrator model on the stand was finished in the stunning metallic Land Rover Keswick green which was beautifully complimented by the matching cream and green contrasting leather upholstery throughout. We predict this will be THE trending colour choice this year – everyone absolutely loved it! It’s khaki-grey hues offer perfectly understated class and it’s also a very practical neutral tone which will stand up to life on tree-lined lanes well. A new take on the ever-popular metallic grey.

The days were long but went by so, so quickly it really did feel like a whirlwind from start to finish. Our feet were absolutely howling come Sunday night and our cheeks were aching from smiling so much, but what fun we had! We’ve already reserved our spot for 2025 and have some exciting plans for probably the best competition EVER – so make sure to put the dates in your diary now (1-2 March 2025) so you don’t miss out! We’ll see you there.
